With the opening of the filling station for green hydrogen, Tyczka Hydrogen GmbH has added an important alternative fuel to the existing multi-energy site in a Freight Village in the Augsburg Region. On Monday, June 17, 2024, the filling station was inaugurated and officially opened in the presence of Minister of State Hubert Aiwanger.
Following the ground-breaking ceremony on September 22, 2023, the hydrogen filling station is now officially in operation. The location in the north of Augsburg offers the advantage of proximity to end customers in the fields of logistics, industry, vehicle development and waste disposal, who are increasingly relying on hydrogen and fuel cell technology. Tyczka Hydrogen not only operates this filling station, but also supplies the green hydrogen for it. Thomas Zorn - Managing Director of Tyczka Hydrogen: “The entire Tyczka Hydrogen team is very proud today that we can open our first own H2 filling station. With just under nine months from the ground-breaking ceremony to commissioning, we are satisfied with the realization time. We look forward to many new customers.” The hydrogen fuel expands the existing multi-energy site in the GVZ Region Augsburg and complements the range of services offered by BayWa Power Liquids GmbH and Kloiber GmbH, which already offer LNG, LPG and truck diesel.
With hydrogen dispensers at 350 and 700 bar pressure, the filling station is able to refuel a wide range of vehicles - from cars, buses and special vehicles to heavy trucks. At the current stage of expansion, it can provide around 500 kg of hydrogen per day, which is enough to refuel around 10 to 20 commercial vehicles. The filling station technology was provided by the H2 filling station specialist Maximator Hydrogen.
The opening was celebrated in the presence of numerous invited partners and guests from the region as well as the management of the freight center. Minister of State Hubert Aiwanger gave a short speech in which he emphasized: “Hydrogen will play a fundamental role in the decarbonization of heavy-duty mobility and is essential for the transition to a sustainable energy system. Today, the fourth hydrogen filling station that we have funded as part of the Bavarian hydrogen filling station infrastructure program is officially going into operation here at the Augsburg Freight Village. We are proud that we have companies like Tyczka Hydrogen in Bavaria that are driving this transformation forward.” Dr. Götzelmann, CEO of the Tyczka Group, adds: “We would like to thank the Free State of Bavaria for supporting the implementation of the project as part of the H2T program. Only through good cooperation between business and politics will we master this transformation.”
The filling station was then officially opened with the first refueling of the hTGX hydrogen tractor unit from MAN, which was launched by Minister of State Aiwanger.
Following the opening, the new hydrogen filling station was visited by numerous interested guests as part of a hydrogen mobility day. Visitors also had the opportunity to inspect hydrogen commercial vehicles from well-known manufacturers (Hylane, Daimler Bus, MAN, Quantron, Keyou, Still, Paul, Arthur Bus, BMW, Kühl-Entsorgung) as well as an emergency generator from SFC Energy and to take part in a program of presentations on the topic of hydrogen in mobility. There was the opportunity to exchange ideas with vehicle suppliers and users of hydrogen vehicles and to gain insights into the technology of the filling station.
The event was organized by Tyczka Hydrogen GmbH in cooperation with the Hydrogen Technology Region Augsburg and the Regional Hydrogen Coordination Office of Regio Augsburg Wirtschaft GmbH and the Augsburg Freight Transport Centre.
